Beethoven/Ries

The combination of Beethoven’s and Ries’ works may seem obvious. After all Ferdinand Ries was one of Beethoven’s best-known pupils but mainly because he was otherwise involved with the work of his (former) teacher as well.

It is therefore even more strange that the complete clarinet music of Ferdinant Ries is almost not recorded at all. On this 2 cd’s I am accompanied by the fabulous Russian period specialist Vasily Ilisavsky. Vasily has a very unique and beautiful way of interpretation early romantic music and I was very happy to be able to work with him.
The cellists featuring are Benjamin Gloiriuex and Jadranka Gasparovic.
We had lot’s of fun recording this 2 cd’s.
